Dr Sharie Coombes is a child, teen, family and adult psychotherapist who loves to use neuroscience to inform her practice, help people understand themselves and feel happier in their lives. Sharie has worked and published internationally, and her expert comment and opinion are widely quoted across national, global and online media.

Before retraining as a psychotherapist, Sharie spent almost 30 years as a primary teacher, headteacher, university lecturer and local authority adviser. She earned a doctorate in education (EdD) from the University of Brighton in 2007.

Alongside a busy private practice near Brighton, she’s worked as a child, adolescent and family psychotherapist at the NHS Tavistock Clinic in London with adopted and fostered children, young people and families. Until recently, she also worked with the psychosocial team in the British Red Cross Refugee Support and International Family Tracing team.

Sharie has written multiple best-selling mindfulness and mental health books for young people, including the acclaimed KEEP CALM! activity book which helps young people to express themselves, manage anxiety and carry on during and after the Coronavirus pandemic.
